PetMedLog never originates a dose. It performs no calculation, no inference, no suggestion, no autocomplete, no prefill, no rounding and no unit conversion on a dose amount, unit, frequency or route. Every dose value in the app was typed in by the owner from a veterinarian’s prescription.
What the app will not say
- It will not call a reading normal, high, low, good or bad, and it ships no reference ranges. A measurement is shown as entered, with its date and the person who recorded it.
- It will not colour a measurement by its value. Green in this app means an action was logged — never that a number is fine.
- It produces no health score, grade, index or percentage summarising an animal. There is no input set from which such a number could honestly be derived: the app holds only what you typed.
- It will not diagnose, interpret a symptom, recommend a treatment or suggest a medication.
What it does with a record once you have made it
- Dose records are append-only. Nothing is edited away and nothing is deleted. A correction is a new entry that supersedes the old one, and both stay visible, each with its own name and time. A lost “dose given” record can cause a double dose.
- Attribution is at full size, always. Every event shows who logged it and when, in the same visual weight as the event itself.
- Unlogged is amber, and reads “Not logged”. Never red, and never “missed”, “late”, “overdue”, “skipped” or “failed”. The app does not know why something was not logged, so it does not guess.
- Nothing is ever withheld for non-payment. No record is hidden, degraded or deleted when a plan lapses, and export works at every tier and after a cancellation.
Reminders
Reminders state that something is due. They never restate a dose, never instruct, and repeats do not escalate. They are a convenience: you remain responsible for confirming medication instructions, appointment times and care directions with your veterinarian.
No gamification
No streaks, scores, grades, percentages, badges, confetti or celebration animations. Managing a chronically ill animal is not a game to be won, and a streak counter turns a missed dose into a personal failure at the moment an owner least needs one. Counts are plain and factual.
